Art Works 2006 Art Show Preview
The following two paintings are by Michael Blackwell. Michael was the artist chosen for the Honor Card this year, following Annie Gurley. He is new to Art Works 945 in 2006. For more info on all the paintings seen below or to purchase them, call 704 926 0618.

Here is one of Annie Gurley's landscapes as well her imaginative character "Yaul" in the second image. Annie, who suffered a stroke recently, has been a dedicated artist for four years even after moving into her apartment in Gastonia. We are all rooting for her as she struggles to recover.

Beverly Cowan's photo was chosen for our invitation. Beverly has emerged this year as a strong voice with Art Works 945. She has much to offer. She will exhibit many photos as well as her narrative paintings, two of which are here below.

Joe Robinson has stuck with Art Works 945 as he has aggressively sought to make headway as an artist and to improve his personal situation. He has done both. Joe will feature several wood carvings as well as his trademark canes, both seen below.

If you remember last year's invite, you will probably be happy to know that Allan, now know as Ramiro, Araujo, is back. The Zacatecas, Mexico native offers more bucolic scenes, as well as some human representations. Here are his well know birds and some sheep as well:

Here is the signature style of James Abrahms, aka Cowboy. More of Jame's superheroes from the nitty gritty will be on display this saturday. We congratulate James too for moving off the street early on in 2006!

Today's preview is a very small sampling. We leave you with two paintings by two women who continue to produce original works of art with substantial immediacy and depth: Juanita Crowder and Quinneta Williams repsectively.

Many Thanks and hope to see you Saturday. If so, or if not, come visit this site post-art show and throughout the year.
